Is it? Pretty much every philosopher thought so, even the federalists, which is why they made a republic. And it’s always been a bourgeois republic. Democracy pure is a bunch of idiots listening to social media influencers picking good talkers at the margin of 1% every 4 years. It’s always been theater. It’s manufactured consent.
Yeah I 100% agree. Protests do absolutely nothing. It’s legal for instance to drive someone to get an abortion. It’s legal to organize a union or organized interest/lobbying group. In the illegal space, if you are of the drug dealer affinity, get people their abortion pills and hormone therapies (and cheap GLP-1s and insulin while your at it). Get ready to hide people in your attic like people did during the nazi’s. Organize offline and “clean” interest groups that can share information by word of mouth, and meet in public not on zoom, because all online activity is monitored.
I don’t believe anyone can organize to directly confront the police/military or institutions that are defended by the police/military. Actual disobedience needs to be in the shadows.
I think socialists and liberals would both benefit from having more politically filtered in-person interest groups. A. to bring people out of their online bubble, B. to associate leftism and liberalism with community and fun, and C. so the community building offline is there since online is a surveillance medium. video games, sports clubs, etc. ESPECIALLY in spaces that are currently right leaning.
