Discord is like gated communities on the internet. Not open to the public and not something that is publically indexed.

It isn’t even comparable to mastadon or lemmy when it comes to being a source of information.

Honestly the internet will route around the loss of reddit just like it did with the loss of forums and other crowdsourced platforms that have died off over time. Yeah, we will lose a treasure trove of knowledge, but a lot of it was also outdated and the same questions will be asked again so the knowledge can be rebuilt.

Honestly, most doctors just give you a note if you go in no matter what anyway, so I’ve always felt that it’s more about your workplace tracking you than trying to make sure you’re alright.

It has always been about discouraging people from taking sick time by making it sound like they might not be able to get a doctor to justify them being out sick. All my low paying jobs enforced it because we didn’t have sick leave and they didn’t hire enough coverage for people to be out sick.

My current job has it in the handbook that if you are out more than 2 days that you might need a note to return to work, is phrased as existing to ensure people who were out sick are actually well enough to return. I took a note in once after being out for 3 days and they said I only needed it if there was a chance I might still be contagious or have something that would make it dangerous to work for liability reasons. Haven’t bothered with one since!

They can be anti Russia and still end up being an apologist in the moment by coming up with excuses why a country that constantly violates ceasefires violated yet another ceasefire.

Being an apologist for Russia is certainly a look.

Saying they are committed to producing no rubbish on site on a sign, then selling things that result in rubbish, is hypocritical.

The fees are the cost of the flight. This would be like a restaurant listing the power, staffing, storage space, accounting, inspection, and all the other costs to make food separately on your receipt.

I recently moved jobs and the posted salary was the full range for the role.

The salary range should always be changing with inflation and cost of living. That most likely means that being hired at the lower band of the range means you are going to stay at that part of the hiring range. If not, it means hitting the top end after a few years is a ceiling and you were probably being underpaid the whole time.

It is an algorithm that was designed in a way that promotes that kind of shit because on average it keeps people watching videos (and therefore ads). They use the data from signed in people to determine wha to shove in the face of a new user.

Anything where the clear statement with such a marker indicating it is not true should be illegal. ‘Up to’ claims should also be illegal unless they are true for 99%+ of users/customers.
